The One Enlightened Choice You Have

Sri H.W.L Poonja was one of the last fully self
realized(enlightened) teachers of the 20th century.

And although I never knew him in Person, Papaji(his
nickname) once said something that brought tears to my
eyes just by reading it.

He said.

“There is really only one choice in any life…”

Unless you know this choice, all other choice is superficial.

And that choice is to “Turn your back on everything you
know.

And find the source of it all.”

What does this mean?

It doesn’t mean to turn your back on people, or the
world. No, it means quite the opposite.

It means to turn your back on “your” world.

To turn your back on everything which you know and think
is true.

All your Ideas, Morals, Judgments, Beliefs, Thoughts.
Even the idea of who you think
you are.

Past, Present, Future, that too.

This isn’t a process that takes minutes, hours, or days.
It happens now, in an instant.

Quicker than an instant.

You let go of everything. Everything.

Everything.

Yes, everything.

And in that moment, the whole world stops.

Then, you see what remains.

Then you see the Truth. The Source of yourself.

You see your true Self, for the very first time.

And when you see it, your life is never the same.

There’s one less spot of suffering on Earth. One less
spot. And that much more space for love to pour back into
the world.

Countless poets, and prophets of our time have pointed to
this one Truth. So simple, so pristine, empty, clean,
divine.

“Know the truth, and the truth shall sat you free.” Said
one man called Jesus.

This isn’t some conceptualized truth, or something you
can learn… or need to attend ceremony to receive.

It’s not something that you need to believe in.

It’s the truth of who you truly are.

Then, there is no more need for beliefs.

No more need.

No more need for denial as well.

“To see the moon, you have to reject the finger pointing
to it.”

Because every belief assumes the absence of something
that isn’t already there. Something which you need to
“bring” into your world by thoughts or good deeds, moral
behavior.

Stop it all for just one instant, and see what remains.

Until you fully realize this… even if you do not have a
religion… or don’t really follow one… you’re still
living in your own dogma.

The dogma of your own mind.

Living under the assumption that every belief, every
thought that runs inside you
is reality.

Or if you “don’t believe” in that… then you build your
own “spiritual beliefs.” You invent your own cosmos.

“We’re all one”

“Go with the flow”

“Be here now”

or

“I create my own reality…”

Even all that has to go for you to see the truth. They
were all helpful pointers but until you have your own
realization of this…

Then it’s all something that you “know” in the graveyard
of your memory, and you can talk about it… or

Preach about it… or

Read about it… or

Write books about it.

But you still suffer.

There are so many beliefs in the world.

If you look at it from the outside… it’s like a giant
“belief buffet”

All-you-can-eat for the price of one life.

We’re all eating from the same kitchen, and killing each
other over the food.

Yes.

So first… the madness inside of you has to come to an
end. Because it is an all-you-can-eat buffet for the price
of one life.

You are eating yourself alive inside. Everyday. One
day you wake up and see you’ve spent your whole life eating
yourself alive.

Constantly comparing, judging, balancing thoughts,
bandaging yourself. The walking
wounded. This is the life of a sleep-walker.

And the pill that wakes you up is silence. Silence breaks
all your chains.

Silence is your true nature. Stillness, emptiness,
desire-less.

So take a moment to let everything go. Stop everything.
Stop where you are right now. Stop the whole show. What
remains?

What remains even after your body dies?

Is anything you have believed in really true?

What is true?

When the madness in you stops. The madness on our planet
slowly comes to an end as well.

Then only love can flow through you, no matter where you
are, or what you do.

Then you know who you truly are.

    Dear Friend,
I have been writing this to make you feel important of being on this planet called “Earth” where the life exists. It’s really mandatory for the individual to understand the real self in this relentless mystic world. Where people get engrosed themselves in the ambiguous situations and once entered are not able to move out of that vicious web.

I have no clue of whether u’ll be reading this feedback or not.

But I just wanted to flow with the thoughts………..

Could you please take some of your precious time and assist me for letting me aware of my own self.

    Thanks

    best regards
    Anuradha

I just spent my entire night awake, feeling lost, not knowing what to do with my life. Just thinking: “What have I done until now, what if I die tomorrow?” I felt so helpless and drained of all my energy. I want to change my life and I don’t know where to start and how to do it. Then I read your e-mail and went on the iamnow.com website. I read The one enlightened choice you have and everything changed in me. Thank you so much. You don’t know how much you’ve helped me. I just hope that this feeling will last this time. I want to live peacefully and in harmony with everything. Your website resonates with me. Thank you for it.

Yes there have been many great pointers to guide us in the right direction. Many of them have helped me tremendously and I am ready to take the next step.

I will not search endlessly for this next step. I have a feeling that it will just happen. Instead of great effort, I feel that it will be effortless when it does happen. I will allow it to happen.

My grandmother passed away recently. I have not seen much death in my life and I thought that I would feel empty, like something was missing. The exact opposite happened to me. I felt joy! I felt closeness. I have never felt something so powerful in my life. She is with me and truly a part of me everyday.

Her true self and true energy flows through me constantly and that makes me feel so alive!

There have been more and more people that have come into my life recently and I just have that beautiful feeling that I am a part of them and I can really feel it deeply. Almost a deja-vu feeling but a million times better.

The world is full of amazing people and you are all one of them.

Papaji’s challenge is actually of stopping the mind. But the mind keeps running the show. So how do you stop it?

Here are some suggestions that helped me:

First and utmost, forget about trying to stop your mind. You’ll be using another part of your mind to assert efforts against itself, which is like trying to dry a wet floor by pouring water on it. Every time you try to stop your mind you give it more fuel that increases its activity.

Instead, watch your mind in action. Observe what it does and if it tends to hold onto something. Don’t judge it. Don’t try to change anything. Be fascinated with what you notice and appreciate it.

Gradually reduce and stop all the efforts. Don’t try to be anything. Accept and love what is.

From this observing space notice that the Observer is not your mind. It is not even you (as you are used to know yourself).

If you find that any part of yourself is doing the observing then put your attention on that part of YOU and observe it. Then notice again the Observer. Keep bringing your attention back to the Observer until nobody is there, only pure Awareness present in the void, not affected by anything around it (or within it).

Here, YOU have let go of yourself and your mind. Rather than YOU or your mind running the show, you have brought them Home.

Realize that this empty space, the presence in the void is your True SELF. It is the Non-Dual Source of all there is. Choose to align with this Truth, this Awareness and let it direct your mind and your being. Your mind will humbly submit to it.

(I am sure that Kacper can offer additional guidance and suggestions if needed.)
